I. piston height
The height of the piston is gradually shortening, the diameter of
the piston has been greater than the height of the piston; The
compression height is also getting shorter. These changes in the
piston shorten the height of the engine body and the whole machine,
improve the rigidity of the engine body and the whole machine,
reduce the engine volume, weight, metal consumption and cost, and
reduce the reciprocating mass, inertia force and main bearing load.
In addition, the height of the piston shortened, the weight of the
piston set can be reduced. The total weight of each piston group of
the engine generally accounts for 1.2~3.0% of the total weight of
the engine.
Number of piston rings
In recent years, in order to reduce the friction work, improve the
mechanical efficiency, reduce the ring height and shorten the
piston compression height and total height, the number of piston
rings is decreasing. From the 30 s 5~6 ring groove development to
2~3 ring groove. It was found that more than one compression ring
was not necessary, because if the upper compression ring failed,
the other compression rings could not seal the gas in the
combustion chamber from leaking into the crankcase, nor could they
control the oil up the cylinder wall into the combustion chamber.
Therefore, instead of increasing the number of piston rings, it is
better to take measures to improve the performance of piston rings,
with a compression ring and two oil ring grooves to ensure the
completion of sealing gas and oil control.
