General characteristics of centrifugal pump
(1) the flow direction of water along the centrifugal pump is axial
suction along the impeller, perpendicular to the axial outflow,

(2) because the centrifugal pump forms a vacuum suction by the
impeller inlet, so before starting must be poured into the pump and
suction pipe water diversion, or vacuum pump pumping, in order to
exhaust air to form a vacuum, and the pump shell and suction pipe
must be strictly sealed, no air leakage, otherwise formed a vacuum,
also suction water.
(3) since it is impossible to form an absolute vacuum at the
impeller inlet, the suction height of the centrifugal pump should
not exceed 10 meters. With the loss of water flow along the suction
line, the actual allowable installation height (the height of the
pump axis from the suction surface) is much less than 10 meters. If
the installation is too high, it will not absorb water; In
addition, because the mountain area is lower than the atmospheric
pressure of the plain, so the same pump in the mountain area,
especially in the high mountain installation, the installation
height should be reduced, otherwise the water can not be sucked.
